I've forgotten a lot about the Bahamas by now since I went about 7 years ago but it was an enjoyable experience. There's one cay I specifically remember going to, don't know the name anymore, where when you snorkel, you see old construction equipment and related stuff just sitting deep in the water and nature has taken over. People complain that it is crowded, but if you just move one street off of the main tourist thoroughfare, it is a completely different city. Take the ferry to north Williamsburg, walk the waterfront promenade to domino park. Get a gelato at Gentile. I would skip Times Square, it’s a nightmare right now. The 911 museum is somber but it’s worth seeing the the oculus and the architecture downtown is some of the oldest and most beautiful in the city. Have a great time! But for foreigners I would say it actually depends on what kind of debit/credit card you have, and what you plan to do.
